Lichfield City Football Academy enjoyed great experiences in 2016 with a new team starting together. Pre season the lads enjoyed several experiences at St Georges Park where they won a tournament, got changed in Wayne Rooney's England teams changing room, met the present England u21 team and had pictures with Marcus Rashford. Watching England internationals and premiership football stars live, is a wonderful experience for Lichfield City football Aacdemy players.

Today the Lichfield Academy ended the year with a home game against one of the title favourites AFC TELFORD and it was a fantastic game. Lichfield took the lead with a sharp looking Joe. Who was a constant threat all afternoon and probably should of scored a hatrick. The game was open in the first half with both teams looking to score- top goal scorer in the league a Telford forward looked a goal threat and scored a first half hatrick. Telford 3-1 up lichfield Academy focused and bounced back with a delightful cross from Sansoni and mr consistant Alex jones scoring a powerful headed goal.

Lichfield Academy made tough work of the away derby at the Burton Albion but were pleased to make it 3 wins in a row. Lichfield attacked from the start and Lewis,Shirley,Rainbow, Lika and Maxime all went close with good chances. The disappointment was evident and that shows how far this team has developed but on 33 minutes after a good passing move involving Lika-Rainbow scored and the team were relieved. Burton with a strong wind behind them offered long distance attempts however, jones in good form whitehouse, burns & aubury looked comfortable at the back.

A tough away derby was the match this saturday in the league and after a positive midweek draw at the top of the table in the college league, the lads were set for a tough game.

Lichfield did not start well and after only 10 mins of the game were 2 nil down and the home team had some momentum. After a positive teamwork and good preparation, it just goes to show its up to the players to mentally get right with their attitude and another learning curve was dealt.

Lichfield academy had a tough trip north to unbeaten Newcastle Town on Saturday. Playing in their new away strip it was a very cold day and with a strong wind down the pitch , Newcastle took advantadge quicly going 2 nil up with mistakes at the back. Alex and Ben looked in good form again and with the threat of Joey & Jordan up front it was not long before Joey pulled a goal back on the counter attack with a well taken finish.
