5 STAR Lichfield City Academy Performance
Well when you lose 8-0 at the start of the season your mind will have negative thoughts. Our pitch was waterlogged so we decided to play the game again away at the the largest Academy football school Codsall. Brilliant facilities and good 3G pitch. The team needed direction and motivation and with a teambus carrying only 14 lads, Lichfield City Academy needed to be a team. Injuries are happening at this stage of the sesaon and the team had a very difficult training session at St Georges Park on monday -sprint training.
This makes the result even more special and the team deserve all the credit. All 14 players performed well- again at the back Skipper Ben & Alex putting in great work and professional attitude. Lewis & Max should of scored before Codsall took the lead on a big pitch. O no were the lads to drop their heads put Brandon, Sansoni & Charlie were playing some good passes and Joe on the right looked sharp and pulled a good ball back to Brandon to make it 1-1- with a great strike from 25 yards. Whitehouse at left back battled through the game but provided good shape to the team.
Codsall who a big threat on set pieces with the land of the giant players pulled away into a 3-1 lead however, tactical subs were used and before half time Lewis got his well deserved goal with a smart finish in the box after fantastic play from Max. Brandon grabbed his second and at half time 3-3 was a cracking result.
A nervous second half was in place as both teams are pushing for the title. Codsall went 4-3 up and with only 15 mins left more tactical subs were needed and the team started to find spaces on the pitch, tackle a bit better and Jacob, Jordy, TJ & Mo started to get involved in the game well. Joe played a great ball through to Lewis who finished from a tight angle. 4-4 and with more injuries happening and 8 mins left Lichfield City Academy got a penalty they deserved for attacking with pace in the box in the second half.
Brandon stepped up to make his hatrick and the team had to see out the game with good passing and possession. Codsall had one more corner but fellows in goal some how got the ball out. Charlie & Sansoni in midfield today passed and worked hard for the team, with good shape in the team & all the lads working with high energy it was the best performance of the season to take Lichfield City Academy top of the college league with 4 games to play in march before their Real Madrid tour. Well done team and be proud of an amazing win.
