Lichfield Academy beat Burton Albion

irst round of the midland floodlit cup brought cup favourites Burton Albion to the academy. With minutes to kick off Lichfield were forced into using an outfield player in goal for the third time this season. Reece Winter take a bow -what a performance. Consistant great saves throughout the game and did not look out of place in goal. Skipper Ben ( enclosed) produced a leadership performance at the heart of the defence with great speed, energy and tackles. A new formation brought a solid look to Lichfield and after only 7 minutes full back Alex Jones scored with a great goal in the box.

Lichfield Academy Working with St Georges Park

We are delighted to have support from St Georges Park with equipment and training facilities. The Lichfield Academy student players at 16 -18 years of age have been in the England national team changing rooms, talked and watched the England U21, photos with Marcus Rashford. The coaching and leadership skills they have received and matches they have played have been invaluable experience for our student players. We are delighted to be supporting the students again this week at St Georges Park with two coaching day visits.

JORDAN LEWIS 2 GOAL HERO

Lichfield Academy players had a mixed fortune of results this week losing in the college league to a strong codsall school. However, at a well established Stafford Town club with a team that had been together for years the Academy produced a fantastic away performance. With captain Ben missing and good players Brandon, Charlie, Robbie still injured and others on the sidelines the team won 4-3 away from home. Reece Winter came back into the side after a lengthy break and put great effort in and scored with a powerful header from a corner.

12 Lichfield Academy players and no goalkeeper you would think the team would be under pressure. But these 12 players have great attitude, desire and professional approach to football. A beautiful sunshine day on a good pitch allowed this team spirit to florish. A new formation was put in place and Alex, Jack & Jordan Gray showed fantastic defending ability to marshall their team and midfield player harry stepped into goal and looked brilliant with his postitive approach to ensuring the game flowed and was positive in all his thoughts.

FIRST WIN- LICHFIELD CITY FOOTBALL ACADEMY

Our first official national college game against an established Romulus FC academy. We find ourselves in a tough league and today we prepared to the best of our ability. First team star regulars R Winter-Max J-Rainbow were all missing through injury. Joe shirley 7 J-Burns was rested with captain Ben Mortiboy. Lichfield city FC academy conceeded after 5 minutes from a set piece. However, Lichfield city FC Academy had the most possession in the first half and at times played outstanding football. Mo having a 35 yard free kick tipped over the cross bar.

First Lichfield City FC ACADEMY game

The first official game of the season for the Lichfield City FC Academy finally happened with a good performance from the players. On a hot Saturday morning away at a strong Halesowen team the lads looked a solid team in the first half 2-1 down with a great goal from our star striker MAX. Jordan lewis had a few opportunities througout the game which was pleasing for the team and after being fouled by the GK on a one on one it was a poor decision that their was no sending off. The resulting freekick RAINBOW went close.

Dariuz Vazzell enjoyed presenting the lichfield City FC Academy shirts to the students and playing a game of golf at darnford moors. A beautiful sunshine day. No real golfers on show however, the lads really enjoyed support from an ex-premiership player and listened well with his Q & A. We wish Dariuz well in his next career steps and look forward to him visiting us all again soon.
