5 STAR Lichfield City Academy Performance
Today the Lichfield Academy ended the year with a home game against one of the title favourites AFC TELFORD and it was a fantastic game. Lichfield took the lead with a sharp looking Joe. Who was a constant threat all afternoon and probably should of scored a hatrick. The game was open in the first half with both teams looking to score- top goal scorer in the league a Telford forward looked a goal threat and scored a first half hatrick. Telford 3-1 up lichfield Academy focused and bounced back with a delightful cross from Sansoni and mr consistant Alex jones scoring a powerful headed goal. At HT Lichfield Academy were encouraged that they had played well and again had numerous chances. Joe, lewis & Blake all looking a threat. Jacob & ethan worked hard in midfield and were pleased to get some minutes. Jordy Gray looked sharp again and was putting in some timely tackles.
The second half Lichfield Academy pulled it back to 3-3 with a good goal from Magic Mo another header from a great delivery from Brandon. The subs are always asked to make an impact with TJ & sansoni passing the ball well in midfield, Denis attempting his skills out wide and Mo encouraging from the back. Fellows was unlucky with a penalty and made a couple of good saves. AFC Telford started to battle in the second half and on the counter attack took a 5-3 lead after Lichfield Academy had looked to take the lead with Lewis, Joe, Blake & Sansoni free kicks all going really close. The lads character shined through of a togetherness and team spirit we have with Ben & Alex looking strong at the back and playing improved football- Brandon started to shine with an assist for Joe and with seconds left on the clock, Lichfield Academy pushed forward and Skipper Ben delivered a great pass to Super Sub Brandon who powered home a header to leave Telford distraught. An amazing entertaining game with numerous incidents however, Lichfield Academy players showed professional character and team spirit. Enjoy your holidays with the winter break. Well done lads.
