Lichfield Academy students have had a great start to their season
The Lichfield City football education academy has gone from strength to strength from the day the lads all received their match shirt from Aston Villa & England star Vassell. The lads have shown great commitment and passion to work hard at their studies and football and become a team. They have been underdogs in many of their games as a new team but sit 9th in the league of 30 teams and have had some great wins. Beating Ibstock 10-2 with 12 players showed real character and Max scored 5 with Joe a hatrick.
3 wins in a row against Burton Albion & Tamworth was impressive in the derby games for Lichfield Academy stars. The floodlit games are always exciting and beating Burton Albion 4-1 was a great highligh and very unexpected. Their has been development starting the season with some poor performances losing 6-2 against Bromsgrove and 4-1 to Newcastle. But the lads have shown great desire to improve a tough game against league favourites occurred saturday with Sutton coldfield winning 6-3. Top goal scorer Lewis gaining a hatrick- 16 for the season so far.
The Lichfield City Academy stars have enjoyed numerous trips to St Georges park meeting England national team stars and getting changed in their changing rooms. Have been coached by Premiership academy coaches and had many talks and advice from professional people. They have had wide experience of using football facilities to challenge their motivation and i am pleased to see positive attitudes developing into a team spirit. Their music taste is questionable however, they all have a smile on their face and with exciting times ahead in 2017 & 4 competitions to play for still the future is bright for the academy stars. They will look forward to our final game of the year against Telford on saturday who are second in the league and will be another great test to improve the team.
Good luck Lichfield Academy.
