The staff are delighted with the work of the new academy students during pre season. The learners who have left year 11 at different schools have worked really well with their new academy team mates.
All learners have enjoyed several lucrative sporting events at St Georges Park with FA & PFA football players and coaches- even the new England u21 coach. The learners have played in the FA Youth Cup and impressively won their first floodlit game and National league match at home to Solihull Moors 4-0. New academy star Matt Butcher 2 goals and Lewi Burnside who had returned after a 6 week trial at Walsall FC scored. Daniel Melsom impressed by scoring his debut goal for the academy.
Brandon Radbourne scored a brilliant two goal free kick brace in the floodlit win.
The new academy learners will take time to build a consistent team performance but the initial signs are positive. The staff have patience and experience in building positive team spirit and perfomance standards.
The classroom lessons have commenced and their is positive feedback on the high intelligence of several learners who already have expressed an interest in the degree pathways that Lichfield City football academy offer. 9 students have registered for degree courses and 30 students are completing the extended BTEC sports course ( 3 A level route) with 20 boys completing GCSE and BTEC sports diploma courses.
We are delighted with the first impressions of the students and this week the learners also had the experience of the pathway on offer if they want to qualify and play in the USA with future study.
Lots to achieve and we are pleased with the positive hard working attitude.
