Unbeaten Newcastle took their chances
Lichfield academy had a tough trip north to unbeaten Newcastle Town on Saturday. Playing in their new away strip it was a very cold day and with a strong wind down the pitch , Newcastle took advantadge quicly going 2 nil up with mistakes at the back. Alex and Ben looked in good form again and with the threat of Joey & Jordan up front it was not long before Joey pulled a goal back on the counter attack with a well taken finish.
The development of the lads was not to conceed after scoring and again lack of concentration cost a third goal for Newcastle before half time which was tough on Lichfield. Changing the system and introducing new players brought a solid second half performance. Newcastle forth goal looked off side however, Lichfield went close through Jordy, Harry, Brandon and Jordan. Reece performed very well in goal again.
The subs all made a positive impact. Newcastle with 12 months development ahead of Lichfield on occassions showed that again game management and every starting player performing well, evidence was their that Lichfield are going in the right direction. A solid squad is in place now and the lads know working hard in training and match day will keep their starting position. Ben Sansoni made an impressive debut and Brandon gained some valuable minutes. Next week Lichfield Academy entertain top of the table St Andrews who have won 8 out of 8. Great game to test the lads developent.
